Reducing Jobs in the Era of Global Crisis

Not only UK, US and European country but all over the world are facing global crisis. Due to the global crisis mainly job sectors are affected and employees in all over worlds are most unsatisfied. Here, I will talk especially for India. I have already mentioned some of the companies and their statement and planning about job reducing.

Recent news shows that “5 lakh jobs lost in handicraft sector.” It was the published in Economic Times of India. According to it, “handicraft exports show a decline of 30 per cent in the April-October period this fiscal, an Export Promotional Council for Handicraft (EPCH) official told PTI.”

Sudhir Tyagi who is the All India Handicraft Board Vice Chairman said, “Forty per cent exporters have closed down their factories and 50 per cent people in the four most affected clusters have lost their jobs.”

In India Moradabad, Jaipur, Saharanpur, Jodhpur and Narsapur about one million people are employee in handicraft sectors. As per the news about 30% sectors has been closed due to the global crisis in UK, US, Germany and other European country. The country was big exporter in textile industries from India.

It is the big news for current situation after the announcement of About 100,000 jobs at risk. Now, we in the situation of 5 lakh job lost only from textiles industries. IT industries already announced to cut hiring.

I want to ask one question why only employee sections are in crisis due to the global crisis. Are the company resources which are in material way, ended?

Firing by Mobile Phones Manufacturing Companies

Recently, Nokia announced to cut their employees about 450 from the production, sales, and marketing. Nokia is one of the biggest companies in the mobile phone market however due to the economy slow down the company has decided to cut about 450 job.

In this context Juha Akras who is the Nokia's senior VP of human resources said, “Today's changes are part of Nokia's constant renewal where it is important to be close to our customers and ensure that our people are able to focus on the key business priorities. Also, our aim is to find alternative work within Nokia for as many employees as possible.”

In spite of global leader in mobile phone market the company is now about 30% dip in its income and as well as the company share is also down. However the company is optimistic still that is why it has launched 5800 Xpressmusich touchscreen as well as E series and N series.

It was the Nokia story to cut job. Another story is with Motorola which co-CEO Sanjay Jha recently announced to cut 3,000 jobs. Along with Sony Ericsson has also announced to cut 2000 jobs globally to save $474 million annually.

It is again bad news for the youth and young from the mobile phone markets. Before it we already informed that IT sectors are also down and there job cutting is higher but now here in the mobile phone market job cutting is going steadily.

More Than 1500 workers will be fired by Yahoo

Second largest search engine company Yahoo will fire their 1500 employees due to crumbling economy. The news was published in Hindustan Times. According to it Yahoo has missed an opportunity to sell itself by Microsoft Corp in $47.5 billion.

Yang told during a conference, “I believe getting Yahoo more fit at this time will provide the flexibility necessary for navigating current conditions and strengthen our position for the future”. There is another news also which announced that Yahoo need lower paid workers.

Yahoo itself cut down about 10% payroll of their employees. About the Yahoo revenue HT writes, “Revenue rose 1 per cent to $1.79 billion. After subtracting commissions paid to advertising partners, Yahoo said its revenue stood at $1.32 billion _ about $50 million below analyst estimates.”

Another news is also related to firing of a CEO. The CEO was selected by Bharat Business Channel on an annual salary of annual salary of Rs 48 lakh but before joining he was fired. According to the Videocon’s human resources department, “Due to internal rationalisation, we are currently holding all recruitments. We would request you to continue with the current assignment. The current offer of joining is withdrawn, we will inform you about any development in January.”

I don't think it is true. Third news which I have already written in my previous post of 5000 Job will be cut down by WhirlPool. These are the big companies situations.

However, there are many small IT companies also who fired thousands of employee. Before 2 months in Noida some employee had beaten their CEO and the CEO was killed by them.

Even, I am also facing salary problem with a IT company.

Whirlpool is the company of home appliance maker. It is one of the largest company of U.S. which reported their earnings fell 7 percent during the third quarter. Recently, the WhirlPool has announced that it will about 5000 jobs by the end of 2009 because of global credit crisis and it has continued reduced demand in North America and Europe.

Jeff M. Fettig who is the chairman and chief executive of WhirlPool company, said in a press release, “The global credit crisis has had a profound negative impact on what was already a weakening and very fragile global economy. Declining home values, rising unemployment and very low consumer confidence levels will likely prolong a negative demand environment at least through the middle of 2009.”

According to Hindustan Times news, “It also will cut approximately 500 salaried jobs throughout North America, including both full-time and contractor positions. Another approximately 1,900 jobs will be cut overseas, mostly in Europe.

Whirlpool said it now anticipates restructuring expenses of approximately $170 million in 2008 compared with its previous estimate of $100 million.”

The cut will be for cost cutting in the companies to reduce the expense. It is not 1st time from WhirlPool company but also there are other news also which announced that about 100,000 job at risk in India. Along with IT sectors planning to cut down their hiring and North Indian students fighting for Jobs.

Fight for Job in India

Recently, after the assaults on north Indians mainly Bihari Students by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists in Mumbai in many places of Bihar and Jharkhand set ablaze a train. It was happened after the statement of Raj Takhrey.

It is very hot topic for our life as well as media also. Raj Takhrey statement showing some responsibility towards the country. It is very big accident in India when the Marashtra people assaulted the Bihari students as well Bihari people who are living in Mumbai.

After the accident Raj Thakrey announcing that it will be happened in future also if the Bihari or North Indian students comes in Mumbai for job.

I want answer from Indian government for my some question:

Is there any rule to restrict people to visit, live and to job in India? India is not a country or Maharashtra is a other country?

Is there not any rule to prevent the statement which is irresponsible?

Is there not any rule to prevent this type of activities?

It is all about for the job. The fight is for Railway job. Raj Takhrey asking the government that Maharashtra people don't know about that vacancy. I want to ask who is responsible for that?

It is big decision when the Lalu Prasad Yadav announced that no Railway vacancies examination will be held in Maharashtra from till date.

I think all the people of India are not thinking about employment that is why this type of activities has been run by some people. Job is the need of every person and every government should do arrangement for this.

Jet Airways – No More Employment and Job

It was the news of October 15th, 2008 when Jet Airways terminated about 800 their employee. More than 1100 employee in some more days will be terminated as the news says. It was the termination without notice period and prior information of employees. Those employee who where in the contract basis and were completed their about 5 months of training period, has been terminated.

The Jet Airways Company has announced that all the employee who has terminated will get their deposit money of 55000 and 1 month salaries as a compensation. The Jet Airways company also announced that all the employee who got fired will get job soon if the company will established again.

The Employee of Jet Airways got the information about their termination on the phone when he wanted to know about their cab. It is not a new news of termination but it is surely news of unemployment and capitalist systems crisis. Government has also announced that no advocacy will be deal related to job and termination.

In the evening of 15th October all the employee who got fired gathered and strike for the right judgment but I know it will also be for some time and all things will be clear soon.

Jet Airways and Kingfisher deal is also a recent news but they are only doing deal not thinking to merge but it will also be soon.

Already, A news shows that in this year about 100000 job at risk and hiring is cutting down in IT sector also.

Hiring is cutting down in Indian IT Sectors

IT sector is now no more on boom because all the companies planning to cut down their hiring for this fiscal year. Only Infosys IT Company has announced that in current fiscal year it will cut down hiring about 10000.

Infosys Senior Vice-President & Group Head of Human Resources Nandita Gurjar has said, “We are planning to hire 25,000 people in the current fiscal and among them, 18,000 would be hired through campus recruitment.” with the Hindustan Times.

Already Indian Government has announced that in next 12 months 100,000 job is at risk. After this TCS, Wipro, IBM like these top IT companies has announced that they can fire also in next some months about 25000 employee.

Already unemployment is very high and now RBI has announced that the slowdown economy will through out about 100,000 employees till upcoming 12 months and increase unemployment. The slowdown economic shows that job creation is lower than in past 7 years.

On the one occasion RBA said, “With the rate of employment growth expected to remain below that of the working-age population, the unemployment rate is expected to rise.”

It means we can expect that in coming year more crises will come in the area of employment. Already a huge data shows that unemployment in last 10 years is unexpected.

Slowdown economy and job creation both are the feature now of Indian state. How will government arrange all the thing, it doesn’t know.

Government has recently announced for SC/ST job data. For this a government official said, “All administrative ministries and departments are requested to furnish requisite information by July 18” it was written by Hindustan Times, “These enterprises have been asked to submit two separate reports. The first report would contain total number of SC, ST and OBC employees in the company and the number of new such employees appointed in the preceding calendar year.”

Like this even last year government had asked for SCs/STs job data. They want included OBCs data of various grades employees. They also want that data in which company ST/SC and OBCs employee are working.

I think the coming elections is all the thing for its report. All the data SC/ST and OBC will create a vote bank for the government. In spite of, they are only asking about Scs/STs data, why? Why do they not demanding for general data also.

All the human being needs a good job and every running government has its responsibilities to give a good job for all the people who lives in their state.
